The Legacy of No17
The story began long before the fashion brand Marka No17 was founded. For generations, creativity has taken many forms — painting, photography, sewing and needlework, ornamental gardening, construction, woodworking, and even building boats and engines. Each pursuit shared the same ambition: to create something both aesthetically pleasing and functional. The heritage now continues as Marka No17 — named after a speed boat built by the founder’s father and carrying forward the knowledge, skill, innovation, and craftsmanship that define the brand.
Designer’s Vision
Colors, fabrics, and textures have always shaped the aesthetic vision of founder and designer Baiba Valentinoviča — remaining present through her 20-year career in law. With a master’s in fashion design from the Art Academy of Latvia, she now channels this vision into work defined by precision and clean lines, reinforced by the discipline and structured thinking of her legal background — with the entire design and production process led by the designer herself.
The Process of Making
Designs are created through a slow, deliberate process of making — considering every element from colors, lines, and textures to the sensations of the wearer. Each piece is developed with the same care as a work of art, from thoughtful pattern-making and meticulous finishing to the choice of materials that invite touch and age gracefully. This process ensures that every design stands the test of time regardless of trends, becoming an integral part of self-expression and a lasting companion in the wearer’s life.
