Mid-Creation
Sketches serve as openings into proportion, shape, and composition - allowing the design to unfold gradually, through spatial exploration and adjustment. Garments then take shape through a process grounded in the principles of slow fashion: involving multiple nock-ups, draping and pinning during form development, repeated fittings, and carefully developed detail samples that support the search for the most appropriate technical solutions. Each refinement sharpens the garment's definition and brings it closer to its resolved structure.
Team Soul
Basil, the British Shorthair cat with loving eyes, is a constant presence in the studio. He rustles pattern paper, stares in quiet wonder through organza as it drapes to the floor from the ironing board, and tests textures with the pads of his paws. He naps with a pencil tucked under one paw, shaping a calm and steady rhythm within the space. He is my team.

The process is immersive and deliberate. Fabric selection is guided by touch – by how a material feels in the hand, how it holds shape, and how it speak to the design. Their behaviour in construction – how they hold, resist, or shape a form – is both a technical challenge and a quiet pleasure. Fabric selection also takes into account the nature of the piece it’s meant for, and the kind of
sensation it might evoke in the wearer. Even the weight of the fabric – and sometimes the sound it makes when crumpled in the hand – can offer a clue to its potential.
